*** MACTECH NOW BUNDLED WITH METROWERKS CODEWARRIOR ***
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- April 25, 1994 -- Xplain Corporation today announced the Powering Up Bundle of developer tools -- Metrowerks CodeWarrior™ and MacTech™ Magazine. This new offer gives Macintosh developers the only native Power Macintosh development environment and the only monthly magazine dedicated to Macintosh developers. Now, for the same price that people would normally pay for Metrowerks CodeWarrior alone, they get both CodeWarrior and MacTech Magazine together.
Metrowerks CodeWarrior is actually a series of 3 CDs -- Bronze, Silver and Gold. These CDs contain the Metrowerks CodeWarrior development environment including C++, C and Pascal compilers; high-speed linkers; native-mode interactive debuggers; and a powerful new application framework called PowerPlant, for rapid Macintosh development in C++. The Bronze version generates 680x0 code. The Silver version generates PowerPC code. The all-inclusive Gold version generates both 680x0 and PowerPC code. All versions will be upgraded free to version 1.0 when it becomes available May 15, 1994. Metrowerks CodeWarrior sells for $199 (Bronze), $299 (Silver), and $399 (Gold).
“MacTech Magazine has been covering Power Macintosh development issues in its PowerPC Series and its Powering Up articles since December, 1993 -- long before the introduction of Power Macintosh. This coverage will continue as long as it is relevant to our readers.” said Neil Ticktin, Editor-in-Chief, MacTech Magazine. “Now you can get one of the hottest tools on the market and make your move to Power Macintosh. With Metrowerks CodeWarrior, you can compile using a native Power Macintosh development tool at 200,000 lines per minute. That means that, as a developer, you too can benefit from PowerPC.”
In 1984, MacTech Magazine (formerly MacTutor) gave developers the first information about the Macintosh, without regard to Apple’s “developer status.” Many, if not most, veteran Macintosh programmers “cut their teeth” on the magazine. Today, the magazine has added a number of regular features to help developers sort out the details of the industry:
* Getting Started by noted Addison-Wesley author, Dave Mark
* Powering Up by Apple Engineers and others “in the know”
* Inside Information by Apple’s premier insider, Chris Espinosa
* Programmers’ Challenge by efficiency enthusiast, Mike Scanlin
* NewsBits for relevant developer news
* Tips & Tidbits by the readers of MacTech Magazine
* THINK Top 10 by Symantec’s Technical Support Group
* Tools of the Trade Product Reviews
* Feature Articles
* Conference Reports
* Mail Order Store and more!
When you purchase Metrowerks CodeWarrior through MacTech Magazine’s Mail Order Store, you can get a bonus 12 issue subscription of MacTech Magazine with your purchase.
